The Annual Monster Bash is taking place this year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania June 21-23. This year's theme is a tribute to Abbott and Costello's efforts in the realm of horror (i.e., A&C meet Frankenstein/Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde/The Mummy/The Invisible Man). Scheduled to attend this year are the daughters of Abbott and Costello, The Creature From the Black Lagoon (Ben Chapman), and most importantly, Co-Founder and Creator of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, Forrest J Ackerman himself. You understand now why I had to get my tickets immediately. The hotel has already sold out and it's 5 months away! Certainly Forry's appearance has something to do with this. I know he's the reason I'LL be there. Check it all out here. It should prove to be the most excellent experience!

I almost thought it was a joke when I heard this, but it's been reported the Glazers are still trying to land Billbo. I've read recently that the Bucs are going after John Gruden, current head coach of the Oakland Raiders, and are actually trying to work a deal with Manageing General Partner Al Davis to get him! This would be excellent news that would make it hard not to be hopeful of the future of the team. But still...the Parcells talk persists. At the senior bowl this past week, the rumours were running rampant. Parcells has weighed in, again, that this talk is purely incorrect speculation. If is wasn't for the fact that this man lies like a shag carpet in summer, I'd be convinced. I can say that because it's been a major tool utilized by Tuna for the past several years....FLAT OUT DENIAL...THAT BECOMES ACTUAL FACT! Oh yeah, he throws the trump card out there that it's no one's business so he doesn't have to say anything. True enough, but why confuse the issue denying things that are true?!? And worse yet, pull owners into a compromising situation and then leave them high and dry. Heck, from what we now know, the courting period began LAST YEAR!!!! Did he just suddenly decide he didn't want to coach again? How much time does a person need to make up their mind. Seems to me he should have decided this personal issue when he was first approached by the Glazers LAST YEAR. Not right here at D-Day. Parcells has always been someone I've admired, but I must confess to being a little put off by his schoolyard behavior. As for the Buccos and their coaching search....we'll be finding out soon enough. I'm just glad our emotions no longer have to Foot the Bill.

SUPERBOWL--the Silence of the Rams
While I'm usually not one to say "I told you so", I do just love being right! As I predicted (Indeed he did, last issue---N), the New England Patriots brought a lot of attitude to the Superdome, and placed it upon the faces of the Rams on a regular basis. I said the Patriots are a great "Team", and how many times that was evident last nite. From their introduction, where they refused the individual adulation of having their names announced in favor of coming out of the tunnel as a team! You saw it early...before kickoff. You saw it often...all game long. You saw it at the end....the Patriots lifting the Lombardi trophy. Post game interviews with Patriots players reaked of "No one respected us"..."No one gave us a chance"..."It was us against the world"...well, NOW the world is watching!!
I was a little put off by Marshall Faulk's comments that the Patriots really didn't do anything, but instead, it was the Rams who didn't execute. What a ridiculously stupid thing to say. It wasn't Rams helmets smashing Warner in the face all game long. And the guy who returned that interception for a touchdown wasn't wearing Blue and Gold either. Maybe when he watches the game film he'll realize how assinine that statement was, and apologize to the Patriots. Otherwise, you can bet if they meet again next year, someone will be kind enough to remind them of it!  Who knows...might be me. And at least this much needs to be said....

New England Patriots: 20  St Louis Rams 17

Oh yeah....I told you so.

Till next time, take care and God bless
