My Worst of 2007 List There’s not much explanation to give here. This list, as with all such lists and reviews, is purely subjective….one viewpoint in the vast ocean of opinions. Here are a few things that made my “Worst of 2007” list this year:
Most Disappointing Attempt to Revive a Classic TV Show: The Bionic Woman on NBC
Worst Advertising Trend: Those dammed ads at the bottom of the TV screen. Pop-up, scrolling, animated, simple white text, whatever….I hate them all. I had finally accepted those annoying network logo bugs in the bottom corner, and now this.
Worst Sci-Fi/Horror/Thriller Movie That I Was Originally Rooting For Because The Lead Character Was A Woman: It’s a tie between The Reaping and Premonition
Hollywood Happening That I Didn’t Find Annoying Until My Personal TV Viewing Habits Were Affected: The writers’ strike
Most Annoying TV Talk Show Meltdown That Was Inevitable: Rosie O’Donnell raging against Elizabeth Hasselbeck on The View
Most Annoying TV Talk Show Meltdown That Came Out Of Nowhere: Ellen Degeneres’ tearful dog adoption story
Worst Newspaper Industry Trend: Laying off, retiring, transferring or otherwise getting rid of film and book critics and replacing them with generic newswire stories and amateur local yokels
Worst Book-To-Movie Adaptation: Thr3e by Ted Dekker
Annoying Real-Life Events That Will Probably Be Annoying Made-For-TV Movies That I Include On Next Year’s “Worst Of” List: Tie: (1) Anna Nicole Smith’s baby-daddy dilemma and untimely death; (2) Love-struck, diaper-wearing astronaut Lisa Nowek
Worst Attempt To Bridge The Gap Between TV And Film: On The Lot, FOX’s reality show for wannabe filmmakers
Worst Stephen King Book I Read This Year: Lisey’s Story
TV Gimmick That Should Have Been Wonderful But Wasn’t: Starting the fall season with four expanded, hour-long episodes of The Office
Worst Horror Film Remake: The Hitcher
Biggest Celebrity Meltdown That I Didn’t Care About But Couldn’t Stop Watching: Britney Spears
Worst Thing That Happened To Local Book Lovers: MicklerSmith Florida Book Traders in St. Pete has closed up shop
Worst Thing That Happened To Local Film Lovers: The Education Channel had some of its funding pulled by the Hillsborough County Commissioners, so the Independents’ Film Festival will need support and funding more than ever before
Most Annoying and Over-Done Book News Coverage: Tie: (1) The ending of the last book in the Harry Potter series; (2) J.K. Rowling’s outing of Dumbledore
Worst Wait Time For A Movie That Should Have Been Better: The 17 years preceding this summer’s release of The Simpsons Movie
Worst Sci-Fi Channel News: The announcement that the next season of Battlestar Galactica will be the final season

I'll end this year on a happier note, with my "Best of 2007" list next week.
