Creature's Corner

Hi everyone:
(Cough, cough...) Yeah I thought I was gonna get away with it this year, being the end of March and all, but these damp old castles have a way of offering invitations to the flu virus and any of its other b^*%#@d step-children. Yes, I have the flu and I feel like crap so this one's gonna be short.

The Ring Two
I went to the movies last week to see "The RING TWO." Naomi Watts and David Dorfman again reprise their roles as mother and son team Rachel and Aiden Keller. The film bears similar beginnings to last time but quickly changes gears to create a new story. This time the scary television ghost of a girl thrown into a well is looking for something else. In its wake it leaves victims with that same horrible death mask as last time (shades of the Joker). I'll tell you what, that demonic little ghost, with its contortionistic movements is still as terrifying as last time. Now, though, it is seen more frequently so the shock of it wears off quickly. Is the movie still scary? Sure. It's just a different twist on the legend created in the first movie.

Though it came in number one at the box office last week I think many viewers were probably disappointed because of the changes. It's like going to see "Deanzilla." It's good but it's not really the same. If you can get by that you'll enjoy the movie. I liked it. Was it my favorite movie? NO!!! It was good though and worth at least one look. On the Creature Scale I give this one a solid Two screams.

The Human Race, #1
On to comics; this last week I saw a book that really stood out for me: "The Human Race" # 1. Wow!!! This book is really kinda neat. It is a seven issue long story line from DC Comics featuring the works of; Benjamin Raab (writer), Justiniano (artist), Walden Wong (inker), Clem Robins (letterer), Chris Chuckry (colorist), and Joey Cavalieri (editor). I do believe that's everyone. This talented group has created an interesting story with a nice look to it. Alien viruses are being used to mutate human genes for the "Great Evolution." If successful the Human Race will never be the same. Even Dr. Herbert West couldn't have done a better job though this story does smell heavily of "The Great Old Ones," if you know what I mean. I like this one people. Alien plots, cover-ups, conspiracies, secret organizations, it's all here. Run out and grab a copy today. Remember, education is the best weapon. I give this one a full Three Screams on the Creature Scale.

Anyway, I'm wearing out so that's it for this go-round. Until next week; C-YA!!!
