Creature's Corner

Hello fellow PCR Afficianados:
Things at the "Castle" got kind of weird after hearing of Andy Lalino's decision to leave the PCR family. All the things who dwell here with me expressed sadness at his decision. They all enjoyed the friendship we developed over three very insignificant things (well, insignificant to some anyway). Our love of old movies, Filmmaking, and Dungeons & Dragons. A couple years ago we started a frenzy over talking about old movie houses of Tampa Bay in the sixties and seventies and the movies we first viewed in these ancient cinemas of a time long gone. That exchange brought back lots of great memories that I will always treasure. Check the archives and see for yourself. Anyway, good luck Andy, and, keep in touch.

Okay, where were we. Oh! We hadn't started yet. Well, here goes. Get ready for a big shake-up in the world of comics as both DC and Marvel prepare to unleash their massive story events on comic readers everywhere. Marvel is going to begin unleashing the House of M storyline in June so we'll talk about them at that time. It will sweep many of their current titles and cover over fifty books.

DC, on the other hand, has already started their big event "Infinite Crisis." Those of you who remember the original "Crisis" from 1986 know how in depth that story was. The countdown to "Infinite Crisis" began a couple weeks ago with the release of "Countdown." We talked about that book a couple weeks ago. Now I am holding in my claws two more precursors to "IC"; The "Omac Project" and "Day of Vengeance."

The Omac Project
The "Omac Project" is brought to us by Greg Rucka and Jesus Saiz. It is loosely associated with the Jack Kirby series of the same name. I'm not going to give anything away but this series will promises to shake up the foundation of DC's holy three: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. You don't want to miss this one baby.

The Day of Vengeance
"Day of Vengeance" stars an old DC standby, everyone's favorite spirit (no Gorbley, not that kind of spirit), The Spectre. This one is being offered by Bill Willingham, Justiniano, and Walden Wong. The Spectre is on the war path and has no human host. Bring in many of DFC's lesser Mystical types and, "WHAM," a story is born. Get this one before it's all gone. The visuals are really nice and fit the mood of the story quite well.

Both of these stories are six-issue mini-series and look to be lots of fun, so go haunt your local comics shop and scare up some copies of these two titles.

That's all for this week. Until next we meet: C-Ya!!! Have a Great Weekend.
