READER COMMENTS ON FLORIDA CITY/COUNTY NAMES

    Hello, William
I am Dr. Ron Barnette, who is working on a Florida Tartan Day Resolution with the Florida State Legislature. I am interested in Florida cities and county names that reflect the culture and names of Scottish influence. I saw your website on H to I in this regard. I have several examples, and ask if you can share more information.

    Thank you so much.

    WILL RESPONDS--

    Hello Dr. Barnett:
Such entities that come to mind concerning Scottish-influenced names or places in Florida would be:

    Dunedin: http://www.crazedfanboy.com/npcr/laflapcr227.html
    Inverness and Inglis: http://www.crazedfanboy.com/npcr/laflapcr232.html
Sarasota: http://www.crazedfanboy.com/npcr/laflapcr242.html (Although it is not credited in my story, the Scots were very influential in Sarasota's history. You may want to consult with a historian in that area for further information).

Hope this helps, and keep up the great work!

    William Moriaty
