My Second Toe Is Longer Than Yours

Haunt X

Last weekend, our group from Other Side Cinema attended the Haunt X convention at the LAX Hilton Airport.

Our group was there along with After Life FX promoting our new vampire film called "Live Evil." The feature is set to start shooting in two weekends. Once we start shooting I will have a bunch more info.

In attendance were our leading actors including Don Calfa (Return of the Living Dead, Weekend at Bernie's). Everyone had a great time and we got a chance to really push the movie.

Some people may not know this about me but I have a background in stunts. I got a chance to work with local stunt man, Jerry Alan (Unearthed), several times. I also went through Kahana's stunt school in 2003. Mr. Kahana is credited in having the first ever stunt school out in Chatsworth, CA before it relocated to the swamps of Groveland, FL. Some of the older folks might remember Mr. K as Chango from the Bananna Splits' "Danger Island." Ot Oh Chango! More recently Mr. K was seen driving the camper at the beginning of Jeepers Creepers.

Since relocating here every time I do a convention I love to meet actors who are also stuntmen. I saw that Kane Hodder was slated for this convention and I had to meet him. Many of the stuntmen out here have call in services. Similar to paging services that a doctor may have for his patients to get hold of him or her. I found out Kane Hodder's call service and touched base with him before the convention.

For those of you who may not know the name, Kane Hodder is most noted for playing Jason in "Friday the 13th" series part 7-10. I had heard of him before and seen him when he did stunts in the Chuck Norris movie Lone Wolf McQuade and Out for Justice with Steven Seagal. Once in a while you will see him pop up in a movie as an actor too. The first movie that comes to mind like that is Monster where he was one of the undercover cops at the end.

It was exciting for me to meet this guy and talk to him for a few moments about stunts. He seemed to know some of the folks I have trained with in the past which is cool. It is a breath of fresh air that a lot of these guys are down to Earth and really cool.

Over all the convention was a big success. The Haunt X people were very organized and did a great job with everyone. I am really looking forward to catching up with everyone at the Fangoria convention in spring.

By that time we should have a big portion of our film done. Be on the look out for "Live Evil." Chances are you are going to hear about it more soon.
