Summer's Here
As Mike Smith reflected last week, summer is a special time for pop culture enthusiasts, especially for movie fans. Hollywood saves their biggest, if not their best, for the summer "blockbuster" season. Most of the highest-grossing movies of all time came out in the summer.
As I write this, The Da Vinci Code, riding a wave of non-stop publicity, is still doing well at the box-office despite less-than-stellar reviews from the nation's critics. Not all of them feel so negative, mind you. Our own Mr. Smith gave it 3½ stars, and a few others have been generous as well. I guess it's what you expect to get out of it. I'm expecting to see it myself later this week. Soon after, I'll hit X-Men: The Last Stand. An added bonus to that is waiting through the end credits for old friend and special make-up FX maestro L. Corey Castellano's name to appear. Hopefully we can attend together.
