THIS WEEK'S MOVIE REVIEW
by Mike Smith

"X-Men: The Last Stand"

The last time we saw our favorite band of mutants they had just defeated bad guy William Stryker, albeit at the cost of losing one of their own. However, the ending of "X2" hinted at the resurrection of that character, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes. Hint, hint!

Another Generation Carries the Baton

Maddie Sousa

Congratulations to Maddie Sousa, the daughter of former Andromeda Society president Richard Sousa and wife Janet on her graduation from Robinson High School! I've known Richard since he himself was a teenager. The Sousas send their love to Maddie and so does Uncle Nolan.

THE TAMPA FILM NETWORK MEETING FOR MAY

Due to a heinous work schedule, I couldn't post my thoughts on the May Tampa Film Network Meeting until right now. It was the first meeting I have been able to attend and it was productive.

Summer's Here

As Mike Smith reflected last week, summer is a special time for pop culture enthusiasts, especially for movie fans. Hollywood saves their biggest, if not their best, for the summer "blockbuster" season. Most of the highest-grossing movies of all time came out in the summer.

As I write this, The Da Vinci Code, riding a wave of non-stop publicity, is still doing well at the box-office despite less-than-stellar reviews from the nation's critics. Not all of them feel so negative, mind you. Our own Mr. Smith gave it 3½ stars, and a few others have been generous as well. I guess it's what you expect to get out of it. I'm expecting to see it myself later this week. Soon after, I'll hit X-Men: The Last Stand. An added bonus to that is waiting through the end credits for old friend and special make-up FX maestro L. Corey Castellano's name to appear. Hopefully we can attend together.

PCR's New Look
Thanks to everyone who called or wrote in with support and suggestions on PCR's new look and direction. It's been a lot of work but very exciting for me to try this out. It solves certain problems I've had and streamlines the publishing end in many encouraging ways. And that's always a good thing!     --Nolan

WOOPS! Mea Culpa
It has just come to my attention that, due to a coding error, the embedded link box on the Movie Review page that links to past reviews has not been working. It has now been fixed. I apologize for any inconvenience this caused.
