TAMPA FILM REVIEW REMINDER
R.I.P.
The "fifth Beatle", Billy Preston, has died at the age of 59 after a lengthy illness.
Preston played on such notable Beatles hits as Get Back and Let it Be.
Preston's solo hits include "Nothing From Nothing" and "Will it Go Round in Circles?"
Mike Smith elaborates on Billy's life and career with his usual brilliance in this week's Mike's Rant.
666 Day a Bust
I trust everyone noted the fact that the world as we know it did not come to an end earlier in the week, when the date was June 6, 2006, or 6-6-06?
Sure, "The Omen" remake came out. But so did David Lee Roth's bluegrass version of Van Halen classics called "Strummin' With The Devil". I hear it blows.
Good friend Josh Sullivan kicks off a tour with his ska/punk/comedy band Can't Do It in the following cities:
• June 9th - The Pit in Jacksonville, FL
• June 13th - The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh, PA
• June 14th - The Poison Room in Cincinnati, OH
• June 16th - White's Bar in Saginaw, MI
• June 18th - The Humility Gallery in Chicago, IL
• June 22nd - Breaker's Music Hall in Jonesboro, GA
• June 23rd - KnK Music Hall in Ocala, FL
• June 24th - State Theatre in St. Pete, FL (CD RELEASE SHOW!!)

Batwoman Returns as a Lesbian
by Nolan Canova

One of my regular readers insists this is too hot a topic to let slide, so here goes: Batwoman -- real name Kathy Kane -- has been brought back to life as a "lipstick lesbian"...

THIS WEEK'S MOVIE REVIEW
by Mike Smith

"THE OMEN"

I can almost imagine the pitch. A young movie executive is sitting in his bosses office and notices that soon it will be June 6, 2006. Hmmmmmmm, 6 6 6. Suddenly it hits him: "Boss," he says, "it's time to remake "The Omen." Too bad he couldn't bring back the original film makers and cast...

MY MIDDLE TOE
by Mark Terry

Gas Prices Affecting Movies

At one point I was driving 3000 miles a month. Back then gas didn't seem to be a killer. Today that sounds insane to drive that much. To think that I was doing this only 7 or 8 years ago is pretty crazy...

Sex, Lies, and Consitutional Amendments
by Lisa Zubek

Is there credible evidence ready to surface that, in the midst of a vigorous campaign to prohibit gay marriage, a story is ready to explode that Dubya himself may have experimented with a same-sex relationship?

CREATURE'S CORNER
by John Lewis

It's been a busy week (as usual) but not too busy to keep me from seeing "THE DA VINCI CODE"...
How about the Manatee being brought off the endangered species list and down-graded to threatened status. I think that is phenomonal news...
