The Tampa Film Review Reminder
COMING NEXT WEEK: ON THE SET IN YBOR CITY!
THE ABSOLUTELY LAST WORD ON SUPERMAN RETURNS
Continuing last week's rebuttals to my 4-star review of Superman Returns, two powerhouse writers explain what they didn't like about the movie!
ED Tucker's take on it is brief, to the point, with no plot spoilers. Recommended you start here.
Greg Van Cott's appraisal is an extremely minutea-intensive, exhaustive examination of the movie as it relates to the whole mythos. Contains plot spoilers, so beware!! Recommended for in-depth analysis for those who've already seen the movie. Pictures coming.
COMING SOON: PIRATES 2!
I SWEAR!
Nolan's Pop Culture Review, 2006!

The Passing of Syd Barrett
This sad bit of news came in as I was planning a different kind of PCR front page this week, but the reactions to this rock pioneer's death have been profound around the Crazed Fanboy offices.

Syd Barrett, co-founder of Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60.

Simply put, Roger "Syd" Barrett and Pink Floyd virtually redefined psychedelic rock with the seminal album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967 with then bandmates Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The album was largely written by Barrett.

Barrett suffered from mental instability, exacerbated by his use of LSD. His behavior grew increasingly erratic, and he left the group in 1968 and was replaced by David Gilmour -- five years before the release of the group's most popular album, Dark Side of the Moon.

I'm sure some other PCR writers (Mike and Terence) will be contributing their thoughts about Syd Barrett as well.

A Message Board thread has been started.

THE SANFORD SUMMIT III
by Nolan B. Canova

After a year's time and two previous Summits, Will Moriaty was able to transport me to the magical town of Sanford, Florida to meet up with local legends Charlie Carlson and Harry Wise. Before we left, we'd made our Halloween plans...

THIS WEEK'S MOVIE REVIEW
by Mike Smith

"You, Me and Dupree"
Taking the old SNL sketch idea of The Thing That Wouldn't Leave and stretching it for almost two hours could have been a disaster, but the charm and talent of the cast of "You, Me and Dupree" make the ride worth taking.
