Established A.D. 2000, March 19. Now in our seventh calendar year!
Number 329 (Vol. 7, No. 28). This edition is for the week of July 10--16, 2006.

This sad bit of news came in as I was planning a different kind of PCR front page this week, but the reactions to this rock pioneer's death have been profound around the Crazed Fanboy offices.
Syd Barrett, co-founder of Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60.
Simply put, Roger "Syd" Barrett and Pink Floyd virtually redefined psychedelic rock with the seminal album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967 with then bandmates Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The album was largely written by Barrett.
Barrett suffered from mental instability, exacerbated by his use of LSD. His behavior grew increasingly erratic, and he left the group in 1968 and was replaced by David Gilmour -- five years before the release of the group's most popular album, Dark Side of the Moon.
I'm sure some other PCR writers (Mike and Terence) will be contributing their thoughts about Syd Barrett as well.
A Message Board thread has been started.

THIS WEEK'S MOVIE REVIEW by Mike Smith
"You, Me and Dupree"
Taking the old SNL sketch idea of The Thing That Wouldn't Leave and stretching it for almost two hours could have been a disaster, but the charm and talent of the cast of "You, Me and Dupree" make the ride worth taking.
