Five Years Later
It's been five years since the horrific events of September 11, 2001, commonly referred to as simply "9/11". I'm going to resist the temptation of asking, "and what have we learned", lest I open up the proverbial can of worms on such a hot political topic.
But one can't help but reflect on what happened, what's happened since then, and if anything could've happened to change things.
In the motion-picture world, since the (ahem) dubiously-received Fahrenheit 9/11, we've had such high-caliber movies as United 93 and World Trade Center to help speculate on events surrounding the catastrophe. This week, ABC TV has aired a mini-series, The Path to 9/11, dealing with events leading up to that fateful day, and already causing some controversy.
Amidst all the sadness, I am delighted to bring some lightness to a very dark topic by way of re-introducing a Florida-based rock band from the '60s and '70s, The Royal Guardsmen. Yes, they of Snoopy vs The Red Baron fame (and the very first 45rpm single I ever bought), are announcing their newest project: Snoopy vs Osama! Read ED Tucker's exclusive interview with the Guardsmen here.
I am also delighted in welcoming back our legendary music critic, Terence Nuzum, for a look at the 20 Best Heavy Metal Albums of All Time. Being an old rivet-head meself, Terence and I went a few rounds over this topic in private. Terence wishes to emphasize this is not an "essentials" list, but a personal look at his favorite metal music.
From Chris Woods and Joe Davison: Looking for cast and crew for short horror film -- "THE QUIET PLACE".
