WEDNESDAY???
Yes, I know it's a surprise to see me here this early. We are heading for Minnesota to attend a memorial service for my brother Anthony tomorrow which is why the abbreviated rant is here.

IS CHRIS ROCK GOING TO BE MR. MYAGI?
Word from Hollywood is that Jaden Smith, son of actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, is going to star in a remake of "The Karate Kid." Are there really NO original stories left in Tinseltown?

PASSING ON
Gus, the one-eyed, three-legged Chinese crested dog recently named the World's Ugliest Dog, passed away this week from cancer. He was 9.

Herb Score, former major league pitcher and long time Cleveland Indians broadcaster, died on Tuesday. He was 75. The American League Rookie of the Year in 1955, Score's career was altered forever when he was hit in the face with a line drive on May 7, 1957. Gun shy after the incident, he altered his pitching delivery and never returned to his glory days. After 5 unsuccessful years he retired in 1962. He joined the Indians broadcast team in 1964, working the televised games. In 1968 he moved to the radio broadcast and spent almost 30 years in the booth, retiring in 1999.

Mitch Mitchell, drummer and last surviving member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, was found dead in his hotel room, apparently from natural causes. He was 61. With Hendrix on guitar and Noel Redding on bass, Mitchell did his best to carry on the legacy of the guitar master. As part of the sanctioned Hendrix Experience Tour, Mitchell has kept Hendrix' music front and center. Hendrix, as we know, passed away in 1970 while bass player Redding died in 2003. The group had only just recently completed their West Coast tour.
