At this year’s Florida Extravaganza Collectibles Show (FX), Lisa Scherer Marsters Ciurro and I covered a lot of convention and collectibles related topics as we canvassed the aisles. One of our discussion items was photographs, which consisted mainly of my lament at always taking a lot but being limited to what I could use within the scope and the space of my review. Lisa made the logical suggestion that a photo essay could be done as a supplement to the regular coverage and that sounded like a great idea to me. So, to celebrate FX’s twentieth anniversary, I am presenting a selection of photos that were not used for this year’s review. For an in depth analysis of the entire show, please see last week’s column http://www.crazedfanboy.com/npcr09/retropcr474.php. For this week, please enjoy an alternate selection of photos that further illustrate what makes this show so much Fanboy fun.
An impressive selection of tin toys (including a 60's Dalek), a Superman painting from the Creator's Corner, and some of the three sheet and 40x60 movie posters available this year.
Two different kinds of army men - modern G,I, Joe action figures and beautifully hand painted tin soldiers.
Some high dollar Silver Age comic books and Marx's Disneykins large plastic figures.
A nice selection of modern Batman memorabilia and some of DC Comic's cool action figures from their Direct line.
A whole table of Star Wars prop recreations and Atari 2600 game cartridges make a last stand!
Beauty and the Beasts! ED Tucker and Joel Wynkoop literally mugging for the camera and Amanda Stevens from The Superhuman Experiment.
Celebrity guests from a distance - Camden Toy and Juliet Landau from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek:TNG.
Special thanks this week to Jim Fowler who took many of the photos presented here. Happy anniversary FX and here's wishing you many more!
