We’re Here!!!!!
It’s finally, officially football season now as Week 1 starts on Thursday night with the Tennessee Titans going into Pittsburgh, to crash the Steelers’ Super Bowl celebration. Then “Kick-Off 09” will continue on Sunday when the Bucs’ season starts with the Cowboys coming to town. Also, college football is here too, and with a bang! Miami beat Florida State in a great game, and USC will face Ohio State on Saturday.

John Madden Can’t Stay Away
Retired? Please! You can’t keep this guy away. This week, former Coach/Broadcaster/Video Game Pioneer John Madden was named as a “Special Adviser” to NFL Commish Roger Goodell. Whatever that means. It’s unclear right now what he’s going to advise him on, my guess is athletes foot. BOOM! Tough Actin’ Tinactin!

Emmitt Smith Downs The ‘Boys
Former Dallas Cowboys superstar running back Emmitt Smith told anyone that was paying attention that he thought the Cowboys would finish under .500 this year. He even said that they’ll end the season with a 7-9 record. Smith doesn’t believe Roy Williams will be able to fill Terrell Owens’ shoes, and Tony Romo is facing a make or break year. Now this has the Tiki Barber situation written all over it. If you remember, during the Giants’ Super Bowl season, Giants’ star running back Tiki Barber thought that he could enhance his broadcast career by downing the Giants, dumping on QB Eli Manning, and coach Tom Coughlin. And as you know, the Giants went on to defeat the undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, and Barber looked like an idiot. But Emmitt Smith may be on to something here. First of all, the Cowboys play in a rising division. The Arizona Cardinals became one cornerback that could’ve thrown his hands up from winning the Super Bowl this year. So they’re going to be tough on the Cowboys, also the 49ers are becoming a formidable defensive team and that’s a bad thing when your going play them and you don’t have any receivers.

Ah, The Good Life
Chargers’ superstar linebacker Shawne Merriman was accused of choking reality TV star Tila Tequila this week. The San Diego District Attorney is investigating the incident. But in the meantime, Tila Tequila sees this as a “strike while the iron is hot” situation, by going out and giving interviews and talking about the whole incident on Twitter. I’ve really never heard of this chick or her reality love show as VH1 pops out a new on every week. Tila claims she was abused by Merriman, and Merriman claims Tila was trying to drink and drive and he was merely trying to intervene. There have been no arrests in the incident, leading me to the conclusion that there was no crime, and Tila is trying to become a bigger star at Shawne Merriman’s expense. Plus I think they’re just both frikin’ nuts anyway.
